PHOTO: 8 YEAR OLD BABY FOUND AT KADUNA CEMETARY WITH MAGGOTS ALL OVER HIS BODY

This is really a shocking news,
a student of Bayero University
Kano and Miss Grace Yahaya, a Kaduna State
athlete who found the baby, narrated their
experiences to newsmen at the Kakuri police
station where it was taken to after receiving first
aid at a nearby hospital in Kakuri.

The baby boy suspected to be eight-day-old was
found wrapped inside a bag and abandoned at a
cemetery in Kakuri, Kaduna South local
government area of Kaduna State yesterday.

The boy, who had maggots coming out from every
opening on his body, was still alive, according to he boy, who had maggots coming out from every
opening on his body, was still alive, according to Mr. Robert Ogbole
who located him in the area.

Ogbole said: "I was at home at about 11: 30 am
when my younger brother (Mike), who passed
through the cemetery to the football field came
with a report that he heard the sound of a baby
inside a bag at the cemetery. So, I quickly called
my neighbour (Grace), and we ran to the place.

He also said that "On getting there, we found this baby boy rapped
all over with cloth and was kept in the cemetery, so
we picked him and this my neighbour helped to
unwrap him, the baby had maggots coming from
every opening of his body but was still alive.

"We then took the baby to Young Men Christian
Association (YMCA) clinic in Kakuri where the baby
was treated before we brought him to the police
station.
"The nurse at the clinic confirmed that the baby
should be about a week old and probably would
have been in that condition for about four days,''
she said.

The Kaduna Police Public
Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Aminu Lawan,
confirmed the incident, "When the baby boy was brought to our police
station in Kakuri, our men immediately swung into
action. We have taken the baby to the Saint Gerard
Catholic Hospital for necessary medical
investigation and treatment. At the end of the
treatment, we will process all the documents and
hand over the baby to the social welfare for further
necessary action.

ALUU 4- COMMUNITY WANTS ITS COMMUNITY LEADER RELEASED

The people of Aluu , Ikwere local government area of Rivers State, have broken their silence seven days after four students of the University of Port Harcourt ( UNIPORT ) were killed by an irate mob in their community.

Two wrongs do not make a right and the only way to address an injustice is with justice! But when a community that is supposed to be burying its head in shame for the unpardonableatrocity committed on its soil is making demands on the same system it so spurned, then, the people of that community need their heads to be reexamined especially, their leaders.

The community has denied that its members were involved in the incident and demanded the immediate release of its detained traditional ruler, Alhaji Hassan Welewa.

The people warned that they would not fold their hands against any further destruction of their community and the infliction of pains on them. They urged security agencies to take noteof plans to attack Aluu community by some ethnic groups whose sons were victims of the mob action.

Spokesman of Aluu Garshon Benson, who disclosed this during a media briefing attended by the chairman, Aluu Council of Chiefs, RichardKalu, called for the release of the detained traditional ruler.

Benson also called on security agencies to stop the harassment and arrests of innocent Aluu natives and urged the outfits to carry out a thorough investigation of the gruesome murderof the students and bring the culprits to book.

He said: "It has come to our notice that some ethnic groups in the state whose sons were among those murdered on our soil are threatening to attack Aluu. We really sympathise with them for the loss of their children and reiterate that no Aluu man has a hand in their death.

"We implore them to allow security agencies to fish out the actual killers of their sons, but also warn strongly that we will no longer fold our arms and watch further destruction of our communities and the infliction of pains and injuries on the good and law-abiding people of Aluu clan."

BOK0 HARAM CONDEMNED THE KILLING OF 4 UNIPORT STUDENTS

Surprisingly, boko haram has openly
condemned the killing of 4 uniport students in aluu
community. This was said by their leader, Abubakar
Shekau, in a recent youtube, adding that killing of
students is highly unreasonable and barbaric. He
also said that their sect wil never indulge in
students and children killing.

He however sympathises with the parents and
relatives of the students, and also implore the
federal Govt to ensure that the perpetrators are
brought to book. Shekau also affirms that they are
not responsible for the killing of mubi students in
Adamawa State and wil never do such. He therefore
calls for justice for the slain students and urge the
security agents and JTF to go into findings and
adequate investigation to ensure that the culprits don't go unpunished.

PHOTO: MAN CATCHES WIFE IN BED WITH BOSS

I don't have the full story of this picture but according to Olufamous,he said this woman's husband was said to have begged
the man on the bed to employ his wife so they
could have money to feed until he could sort out
his financial problems. The man accepted after
several pleas.

But unfortunately, because her husband no longer
has money the woman started disrespecting him
and keeping late nights. Acting on a tip off, the
husband and his friends caught her live in the act
with her boss.

ALUU KILLINGS:'POLICEMEN SAID BURN THEM' - TEKENA'S SISTER

Miss Ibisobia Elkanah, elder sister of Tekena Friday
Elkanah (both pictured above), revealed yesterday
that policemen visited the scene where the
students were burnt to death after they were
severely injured and that one of the law
enforcement agents told the perpetrators of the
dastardly act "to burn them alive"

She said Can you guys believe this? Policemen were there? I
think all the policemen at the scene of this brutal
killing should be dismissed and charged to court.
How could they have allowed this happen?

"I heard when
people were saying the people they (vigilance
group) caught were strangers; that they want to
burn them. "I went back again. I went through the
bush path so that I could see them properly. I
started jumping to see if I could see them. I
jumped again but saw nothing. I jumped the
second time and I saw Tekena. Tekena happened to
be my brother. "I told myself that I was not seeing
well, this thing is a lie. I jumped the third time, I
saw Lloyd (one of the victims). So, I started
shouting.

From what I gathered, the first time I came, they
said they were not known; that they were
strangers. As I identified them, I started shouting.
Ibisobia said she continued shouting that Tekena
was her brother, saying that he came to her on
Thursday in school and she gave him his school
fees. "I told them that somebody should allow me
to ask him what happened and what he came to
do. He would confide in me. He was wailing and in
a pool of blood."

"Tekena has been my younger brother for many
years. I saw them as they lay in the water naked
with leaves covering their nakedness." His elder
sister said she struggled and entered the crowd.
Somebody shouted "Who is that? What is she
doing inside?" "People were pushing me and I
started crying. He is my brother! He is not a thief!
Somebody behind me said O'girl run for your life.

About two persons turned and asked, are you sure
he is your brother, and said may be I was the
person that sent him to go and steal." Ibisobia
replied them that how could she send him, that
she did not look as such. 'They said I should run for
my life that I would be the next one, fifth person."
The young lady lamented that before she could get
to her friend's room to call her family members,
she learnt that the mob had taken them to the
burrow pit. "So, I went there again.

I called my family and they started coming. The
police van came, went into the mob and they were
talking to them (youths). The people kept quiet as
police were making statements. "I heard them
laughing. You know, they were happy. They kept
quiet again. Police talked and they laughed again.
The next was for me to see three policemen
coming out of the mob, boarded their van. And,
one of the said "burn them alive". "I must confess,
I was gripped with fear.

I had the intention to talk to the man that said they
should be burnt alive. As soon as they (police)
drove off, I saw the flames. I was thinking they
burnt them after they had killed them. Later, I
discovered that they were burnt while they were alive.

HOW PARENTS CAN HELP TEENAGE GIRLS THAT LIKE SEX

Imagine a 15-year-old girl who thinks she might be
pregnant. This was her first sexual experience. It
was unplanned. It was even unwanted, but now she
thinks she may be pregnant and she doesn't know
what to do.

Now imagine another 15-year-old girl who is on her
sixth partner this year. She's been lucky; she has
not got pregnant. She's thinking of getting tested
for STDs. She may be regretting her choices,
maybe not.

What is the difference between their motivations
and ours? There is really very little difference. The
reality is that these girls are simply acting, to the
best of their ability, to find a lover of their soul.

We are relational beings. We desire to know and be
known. We crave intimacy. We all want to be loved,
recognised and accepted.

Teenagers are also looking for acceptance and
recognition, and without knowing it, they are
looking for the lovers of their souls. They are going
about it as they assume they must from the
messages they are given from our culture. Sex is
everywhere: TV, music, movies. Kids talk about it
all the time. The casual way in which it is discussed
gives you a clue as to how it is approached. Many of
the ways sex is acted out among teenagers would
shock you.

What we see are girls trying to fulfil relationship
and intimacy needs as well as the need for
recognition and acceptance with sex. They are
looking for power and equality but do not realise
that that is exactly what they are giving away.

Why do you think teenagers have sex? These are
the reasons they give: boredom, nothing else to do,
a way to pass the time, hormones, bragging right,
goal setting, peer pressure, pressure from partner,
curiosity, to get it over with, and sometimes, "they
think they're in love."

They talk about sex, yet what they are most
interested in is relationship skills. Most girls want
to know how to tell a guy, "no" without hurting his
feelings. They also want to know how to deal with
the pain of a break-up (because they know a break-
up is inevitable).

But most teenagers are verbally sexually active,
meaning they talk about sex as if they are
participants. And recent studies show that 13-year-
olds are physically sexually active.

This is not only true of the unchurched crowd. At
the Calgary Pregnancy Care Centre, we see girls
from the churches. And there are many we do not
see. These girls take care of their unwanted
pregnancy quickly and quietly so no one else will
know. It is their big secret. Many times it is kept
from their parents and even their friends. Secrets
like that can be very painful and divisive, and can
follow generation after generation.

Many girls are desperate for love. They feel they
don't have the option to say, "no." And with today's
society so focused on sex and many girls so willing
to accommodate boys' requests, they may be right.
To refuse to "put out" is to lose the relationship,
and with the girls so desiring of relationship they
feel to "put out" is their only option.

Sex has lost its sacredness and beauty and has
become recreational and casual. It's gone from
being the culminating act of a loving commitment
to a precondition, a tryout, for future involvement.

There is a frequent complaint that boys rarely ask
girls out anymore. Instead they go to parties, drink,
pair off and if the mood suits, have sex. Young
women who feel as sexually free as it is possible to
feel are still powerless. Girls like boys boast of their
sexual experience, but are aware that their
reputation have been badly damaged and that the
boys lose respect for them.

Some girls meet their intimacy needs by creating
their own families. They aren't meeting it through
sex. Sex is just the vehicle. They are using men to
have children, and are creating their own "family"
so they can love, be loved and be needed. They are
creating their own "community."

Then there is the gang community. When a girl
joins a gang, especially in school, she is treated as
the lowest on the totem pole. They have to be
accountable to the gang and follow the rules. These
rules are not for their own good as they would be in
a family, but the girls join anyway. For attention
and acceptance, these girls find they need to be
down and dirty. They laugh at the same jokes, even
the sexually degrading ones, and treat sex as a
recreation, a conquest, not as an emotional
commitment.

If you are a parent of a teenagers, what can you do
to help them make wise choices about their
sexuality?

Let them know your expectation of them in the
area of sexuality. Be very clear about your own
values and attitudes. Set definite boundaries for
them in the areas of dating and weekend activities.
Make them accountable to you as to their
whereabouts and activities. Sometimes a lack of
opportunity is all the help they need.

Help them see the discrepancies between the
media and real life. Use time spent together
watching TV or movies to facilitate a discussion on
sex and dating.

Learn to listen. Start communicating early and
often. Keep discussion open; don't over or under
explain. Avoid lecture format. Show them what
good, responsible relationships should be. • I would
like to acknowledge Danielle Crittenden's book,
What Our Mothers Didn't Tell Us, as the source of
much of the information in this section.

ALUU 4- THE FINAL MOMENT

This article is touching.

"thieves, thieves" he screamed, it was almost
funny. Not until more voices joined the chorus as
they screamed and shouted on us. We could have
ran at least to save our lives, but we stopped to
declare our innocence, little did we know how the
day would end. From a handful of young men
shouting and throwing questions at us, it escalated
to a crowd of angry mob.

There was no way we could escape this one, so we
calmed down. They pushed us around and then
stripped us all. These men pulled us pants down,
we were more than embarrassed, the whole
community watched, I recognized few faces from
the crowd.....

Obviously they were so afraid to say"stop"then the
beating started, I wished it to be just a
nightmare. But it was real, these men were
determined.

They dropped heavy rocks on our heads, they
pounded our faces wit large planks, blood covered
our eyes, they matched and kicked us right on our
nostrils, we couldn't breathe."Bring tire" one of the
men repeated, until they brought the tires.

"Oh God!"d crowd watch us,we raised hands of
plea,we couldn't speak, Some hid, some shot
videos and took pictures. there was no one to stop
this. This was the point we knew it was over.

We felt pain, helpless and hopeless.I thought of my
siblings,i wondered how my mum would take
this. She would fall apart. I begged God to hold her
for me,comfort and make her strong for me, I
prayed same for my friends, tears rolled down our
eyes.the tears gave us headaches.

We looked up to d sky but it was stil "whr is God" i
cryd harder. Rings of tires landed on our necks,
they kept hitting us, but we were numb already.
They set us ablaze.

We rolled around, tried to reach for each other, I
wondered who would give up first, the fire burned
our bodies,oh it hurt so bad.

But suddenly the pain stopped, Then I couldn't
hear any other thing, but silence...my spirit
watched as my flesh is burnt beyond repair by my
fellow country men.:'( :'( :'(

May
their souls rest in the Lord's Bossom Amen!!!

BOKO HARAM KILLED 815 NIGERIANS

An International Human Rights Group,
Human Rights
Watch (HRW), said that 815 Nigerians were killed between January and
August by the Boko Haram sect.

The Africa director of the group said "Spiraling Violence: Boko Haram Attacks and
Security Force Abuses in Nigeria," on Thursday.

"In the first nine months of 2012 alone, more than
815 people died in some 275 suspected attacks by
the group.
"This is more than the figure recorded in 2010 and
2011 combined, " he said.
Bekele said that since 2009, hundreds of attacks by
the sect have left more than 1,500 people dead,
according to media reports monitored by his group.

He said that a total of 211 police officer have been killed by Boko haram.

"Instead of abusive tactics that only add to the toll,
the authorities should prosecute without delay those
responsible for such serious crimes.
"The unlawful killing by both Boko Haram and
Nigerian security forces only grows worse; both sides
need to halt this downward spiral, ", Bekele said.

He advised the government to take urgent
measures to address the alleged human rights
abuses.

TWO STUDENTS TO DIE BY FIRING SQUAD FOR STEALING PHONES,MONEY,TORCHLIGHT

Two students named Vershima Kaachi
and Akaazua Akpen have been sentenced to death by firing squad for
armed robbery by Justice Theresa Igoche of the Makurdi High Court .

They were arrested on the
eve of Christmas in 2007 for criminal conspiracy and
armed robbery, contrary to Sections 5(b) and 1(2) of
the Robbery and Firearms Act, Laws of the Federation
of Nigeria, 1990.

According to Jonathan
Usenge, (the victim of the offence) told the court that five armed men came to
his house, attacked and robbed him of some valuable
items on that day.

He said the robbers collected his Nokia 1600
phone valued N12,700.00, two torch lights valued
N350.00 and a sum of N16,500.

Counsel to the convicts, Mr Cletus
Ujah, argued that the prosecuting counsel had not
proved the allegation against his clients beyond
reasonable doubt.

Mr Cletus said the victim was inconsistent in his
testimony, arguing that the prosecution's evidence
could not be said to be overwhelming to nail his
clients.

But the prosecuting counsel, Mr Obande Idikwu,
argued that the prosecution had made a case to
warrant the conviction of the accused persons.

Mr Cletus Ujah pleaded for leniency for the
accused persons, pointing out that they were each
the only sons of their parents and young boys with a
promising future ahead of them, noting that they had
no records of previous conviction and were looking
very remorseful, and urged the court to temper
justice with mercy.

But the judge said the punishment prescribed for
offenders under Section 1(2) of the Robbery and
Firearms Act was death by either hanging or firing
squad, pointing out that it was subject to the
governor's discretion.

70 YEAR OLD MAN WANT TO MARRY A 12 YEAR OLD GIRL TO INCREASE HIS WEALTH

I saw this story on TRIBUNE newspaper and I decided to copy it.

Twelve years old Aminat Hamisu, a Class 1 student
of Ansar Ud Deen Junior Secondary School in Ado
Odo/Ota Local Government is in dire need of
someone to save her life from impending disaster.
She is a subject of a forceful marriage to a man, old
enough to be her grandfather. She lost her father
in the course of the confusion that ensued over her
planned marriage to a septuagenarian. Aminat is
supposed to be a Junior Secondary School 2
student but had to miss a whole academic session
as a result of the fact that she had to escape from
being forcefully engaged to a man, who should
have been her guardian rather than husband. The
insistence of the old man to marry her has also
resulted in her missing classes.

Forty three years old Salamatu Hamisu, the mother
of the 12 years old girl, while speaking with the
Nigerian Tribune, appealed to well-meaning
Nigerians and human rights organisations to save
her daughter from forceful marriage to a man bent
on marrying the girl. The mother of seven, while
narrating the whole episode to Nigerian Tribune
stated that it all started in 2001, when a man
identified as Mallam Ibraheem Mairago, who was
like a father to her insisted on marrying Aminat,
who was just 11 years of age at that time.

According to her, a certain Mallam Alli had told
Mairago that he had a dream that if he could marry
Aminat, his riches would multiply. Meirago
believed Mallam Alli and instantly approached the
father of Aminat, Alhaji Hamisu Aliyu, now
deceased, asking for the hand of his daughter in
marriage.

"Initially my husband refused but, when Mairago
promised him some goodies, he accepted the
marriage proposal without telling either the girl or
me. Mairago promised to give him a portion at the
ram market in Mile 12. He also promised to always
involve him in Quranic recitation for wealthy
people in Lagos," Salamatu narrated. She also
stated that "One day, my husband brought some
yards of cloth home and said that it was meant for
my daughter. I asked him where the cloth was from
and he said that Alhaji Mairago bought it for her. I
asked her for what reason and he said he did not
know. I rejected the cloth and when I prodded him
further he confessed to me that Meirago wanted to
marry our daughter."

The planned marriage led to a clash between the
household of the late Mallam Hamisu Aliyu, forcing
him to report the case to his brother in law in
Sagamu. The brother in law also initially kicked
against the planned wedding but later succumbed,
in a circumstance Salamatu described as
suspicious. "When I refused to support the
marriage proposal, my late husband reported me
to my brother in Sagamu and my brother also
kicked against the marriage but later he took
Mairago to my brother and it was agreed that
Mairago should pay N50,000 as the bride price. At
this stage, my daughter was not even aware that
somebody wanted to marry her," the mother said.
She also said that "When the situation got to a
stage my daughter was informed and she became
really devastated. Because of the marriage talk,
she ran away from home for four days. On the day
she ran away, I woke her early in the morning and
told her to go and pray. For more than three hours,
I did not see her and we looked around Mile 12
Market but she was nowhere to be found. It was
after four days that we saw her. The situation grew
so tense that the deceased Aliyu divorced his wife,
who was then nursing a two-month- old baby. The
woman said that she was sent away from her
husband's house and she had to live on menial
jobs in Mowe area of Ogun State. Before the death
of Aminat's father, her suitor forced him and the
mother's brother to refund the N50,000 naira he
paid to them as the bride price. Though the father
was said not to have taken out of the money when
it was paid, the brother-in-law collected N40,000,
while a certain Alhaji Manga also went away with
N10,000.

The refund of the bride price, ordinarily, should
have been the end of the proposed marriage but
Alhaji Meirago kept on pestering the girl's family
that he wanted to marry the underage girl. He was
accused of victimising the late Aliyu, who was then
working under him. "Before my husband died, he
got to know that I had relocated to Sango in Ogun
State, where I was staying with my cousin, Mallam
Thani Bala. He even pleaded with my cousin not to
allow me return to Mowe. By this time Alhaji
Mairago had married another wife for him. My
husband still loved me and he was coming to see
me, even sometime he would sleep in my cousin's
house," the woman claimed. She further claimed
that "When Alhaji Mairago got to know that my
husband was still coming to see me in my cousin's
place, he changed to him totally. Even when they
told him that my husband was ill, he said that as
long as my husband was coming to see me, he
should die."

The death of the father of the 12-year-old girl has,
however, not changed the situation as Mallam
Mairago has turned his attention to Mallam Bala,
who he accused of habouring his wife. According to
the mother, "Mairago has continued to insist that
Aminat is his wife and that he wants the police to
force Thani to release the young girl to him." In his
reaction to the issue, Alhaji Mairago, who spoke
through his lawyer, Mr. Jeleel Bashir, said that the
proposed marriage was in accordance with Islamic
Law. He said that he had secured the approval of
the bride's father and paid the required bride price
as stipulated by Islamic law. The lawyer claimed
that there were witnesses to the marriage between
Alhaji Mairago and Aminat, adding that the only
person, who had the right to dissolve the marriage
was Alhaji Mairago himself.

On the claim by the girl's mother that the bride
price had been returned, the lawyer said that "I am
not aware that the bride price had been returned.
Even if the bride price was returned, that does not
mean that the marriage has been dissolved."

According to Bashir, Islamic law permits such
marriage, even if the bride to be is not in support
of the marriage. "Islamic law allows a guardian to
choose for the girl if she is underage," he said. He,
however, said that the purpose of such marriage is
not essentially for sex but for the suitor to take
care of the underage girl.

The girl, while speaking with the Nigerian Tribune,
kicked against the planned marriage. She insisted
on completing her education before thinking of
marriage and added that the man was even far
older than her father. "I don't want to marry now; I
want to finish my schooling. Alhaji's children
cannot even be my friends because they are older
than I am. I don't want to marry Alhaji. He should
leave me to complete my education," the 12-year-
old girl said.

POLICE AND JTF WERE THERE WHEN 4 UNIPORT STUDENTS WERE KILLED

According to Tony Uranta, a public affairs
analyst, said that two different patrol teams were
on hand at the scene where the four UNIPORT
undergraduate students were murdered, is a clear
indication of complicity and dereliction of duty by
Nigeria's security forces.

Mr Uranta said that the location where the aluu community burnt the 4 UNIPORT students was within five different outposts of police and JTF.

He claimed that the Police did not attempt to
disperse the crowd before the boys were killed and
left to him the DPO and others should be charged
to court.

The man was a guest on Channels television's SUNRISE program this morning said "the problem we have in this country
is that no government official can be charged to
court and if the issue is not properly taken up he
will go on a one-man protest".

He was also angry with the fact that Mr president did not mention the killing of the UNIPORT students and MUBI killings in his address
yesterday .

AT LAST READ THE TRUE STORY- WHY THEY KILLED 4 UNIPORT STUDENTS

Before posting this,I have confirmed it from 5 students of UNIPORT students and OLUFAMOUS.

What you are about to read is from an insider with references from olufamous.

An indigene of Aluu owed Ugo some money and
had vowed not to pay back. Ugo who was
popularly known as Tipsy had gone to meet
with a fearless University guy (name withheld)
to help them track the debtor who had been on
the run.

'Mr Fearless guy' (a cultist) who was feared by
many in the school ad accepted to accompany
his friends to get the debtor tracked down in
exchange for a percentage of the debt.

They were joined by their room-mate, Chidiaka.
On their way to the place, they met one of their
friend, Tekena, who knew nothing about the
plan, and he joined, just for the hype as is
normal with young boys of juvenile age.
That made 5 boys - Ugo, Lloyd, Chidiaka,
Tekena and 'Mr Fearless Guy' that got to the
debtor's compound. Unknown to the other four,
'Mr Fearless Guy' who was contracted to
intimidate the debtor just to get the money
paid, went with a gun.
When they got to the debtor's house around
12am, a fight ensued, as the debtor confronted
them. A next door neighbour, a woman started
shouting on top of her voice, that they were
thieves, attracting other bad boys around the
area, whom were mainly "vikings", the rival cult
group of the one on contract.

They swung into action by tipping the vigilante
group who confronted the boys, referring to
them as thieves. In the process of beating the
boys, while they were trying to prove their
innocence, the fifth boy, 'Mr Fearless Guy', who
is a cultist, brought out his gun to scare the
people, and he escaped, leaving the rest four at
the mercy of the villagers.
The explanation they tried to give fell on the
community's deaf ears as the people insisted
they must be killed....and unfortunately they
were lynched!

Please readers, this story was told by the 5th guy that was lucky to escape the mob.

UNIPORT KILLING- ONE OF THE VICTIMS WAS BURIED IN THE FOREST

Tekana Elkannah, who was among the 4 Uniport
boy's roasted alive was buried in the forest by his
family. Because he was beaten and burnt beyond
recognition and according to their custom they
won't be able to bury him in town.

"Yes, he's been
buried." The family member confirmed, "We
recovered his body and we stitched it the best as
we could… It's shocking the amount of brutality he
and those boys endured. His body was beaten
beyond repair, but yes, we've buried him. A family member said.

We're from Kalio Ama in Okirika Local Government
Area, and in our custom, if you have endured the
brutality, injuries and violence Elkannah endured,
your body cannot be buried in town. So our 19-yr
old boy was taken across and deep into the forest
to be buried."

May his soul rest in peace.

UNIPORT CLOSED DOWN FOR 7 DAYS

The management of University of Port Harcourt,
Choba, Rivers State, has condemned the killing of its students by irate mob at
Omokere-Aluu community last Friday.

The school has embarked on a 7 day mourning,
suspending all school activities including its
students' union week which would have
commenced yesterday.

The VC of UNIPORT,Prof. Joseph Ajienka, flanked by other principal
officers, described the killing of the students as a
horrendous crime, stressing that the university is
totally against such act of jungle justice.

He also confirmed that three of the deceased persons
were students of the university. They were
identified as Biringa Lordson, a year two Theatre
Arts student; Ugonna Obuzor, a year two Geology
student and Mike Toku, a year two Civil
Engineering student.

ALUU 4 KILLING- PARENTS OF VICTIM SPEAK

Lloyd Toku was a 200 level undergraduate of Civil
Engineering at the university before he was killed.

Mrs. Jane Toku, the mother of Lloyd, one of the four
undergraduates of the University of Port Harcourt
that were lynched at Aluu community in Rivers
State, says her son's death will always haunt her.

She was shock that the crowd could
watch how her son and his friends were
gruesomely murdered. Jane spoke with Punch
correspondent amid tears on Monday in Port
Harcourt.

She said "When we got there, one of them was
still breathing. He was gasping for breath, but the
crowd…they were all there watching while my
baby (Lloyd) was butchered. Come to my area and
ask questions about my child; the child I trained.

"Penultimate Sunday, we went to church, Salvation
Ministry; that is where he worshipped. We all went
together for the second service. He stayed back for
the remaining service. When he came back, he
started preparing to go to school. I can still see him
as I talk to you.
"He brought out a book; 'How Faith Works' by
David Ibiyomie and he said 'Mummy, read this
book and you will know what faith is all about. By
the time I come back on Friday, you will tell me
what faith is all about.'

"Ever since, I have been moving around with that
book, so that I could read and not get him angry
when he comes back from school and ask me about
what I learnt from the book.

"Thursday was his daddy's birthday. He (Lloyd)
called him and wished him happy birthday. When
his daddy asked him if he would be coming home
to celebrate the birthday with the family, he
(Lloyd) promised to be back on Friday after
lectures.

"But on Friday morning, we got the call that my
son was being beaten. How can I erase the fact that
my son was lynched from my mind? He studied
very hard and got admission into the university."

Currently, there is nobody in the community again, the inhabitants of the area left their
homes to avoid being arrested by security agents.

Shops and supermarkets did not open their outlets for business, they felt students of the
university were planning a reprisal on the
community.

The immediate past President of UNIPORT Student's
Union, Mr. Rhino Owhorkire, told our correspondent
that students had shelved the idea of any reprisal.

Lloyd's
father, Mr. Mike Toku, insisted that his son was
neither a thief nor a cult member.
Toku, who is the Assistant Director, Presentation,
Radio Rivers and a father of three male children,
narrated how he got a distress call that his son was
being beaten up by a mob.

"On Friday morning at about 7am, we got
a distress call that our son was being beaten
alongside two of his friends. So, we quickly rushed
down. Initially, it was very difficult for us to locate
the place, but by the grace of God, we were able to
locate the place.He said

"By the time we got there, we saw a mammoth
crowd with a few Joint Task Force members there.
So, we pulled through the crowd and when I tried
to move closer, the JTF operatives told me to move
back. Later on, one of my cousins supported me
and we moved on again and explained to them (JTF
operatives).

"I move close to the four corpses on the ground
and I discovered that one of them was my son. We
were also able to identify the other three as his
friends. We took the corpses to UPTH to ascertain
whether they were still alive. A doctor came out,
examined them and said they were all dead. My
son has never stolen before," Toku explained amid
tears.

"All I want is for justice to be done. That's all.
Whoever carried out that dastardly act should be
brought to book. That is all I want. I have not got
assurance from anybody that justice will be done. I
am yet to get that (assurance). Nobody has talked
to us yet.
