I DON'T BELIEVE IN GOD- SEUN KUTI

Oluseun Anikulapo-Kuti is the youngest son of the legendary Afrobeat pioneer, Fela Anikulapo-Kuit.

Seun leads his father's band, the 'Egypt 80' to date. In this interview with Bayo Adeoye, he speaks on his music and lifestyle, amongst other issues

You were 14 when Fela died, what do you
miss most about him?

Well, Fela was my father. You know, it's a long time now since he died. The most important thing to me now is his presence. I miss him being around. I
think of what would happen if I were able to have a
discussion with him today. Knowing everything I know now, those are the kind of things you miss. I just miss him being around.

Can you describe what God means to you?

I do not believe in God. I am not a believer of anything supernatural. I don't believe in God, Jesus Christ, Mohammed, Ifa, Ogun, or whatever anybody uses as a reason to explain simple actions of nature. God, to me, is in existence.

What has been your most embarrassing
moment?

Ha (smiles)! My most embarrassing moment happened when I was nine. And nothing up till now has topped that. You know, I used to open the show
for my father and I used to sing before he comes on stage. We were in Cincinnati and Fela was about to
come on stage, and I had gone up somewhere because we played in this huge dome where there was an archaic session. I was playing archaic, and I forgot about the show. I got carried away. And when it was five minutes to
go… rushing back to the stage, I dressed up quickly. So, my sister helped me with my pants, I was wearing all this traditional pants that you will
have to tie. So, I was like, Mosun, you did not tie it. And as soon as I got on stage, my pants just got
down…

What is the amusing fact about your life that people will be surprised to know?

Well, I think I tried to keep everything as open as possible. But maybe, people would not know that if I had the opportunity, if it wasn't for music, I would have been playing football. Not the American football, I mean real soccer.

What major goal do you hope to achieve in the next 20 years?

I do not plan that long. It is impossible for anybody to have that great plan. Looking at 20 years in a globalised world, anything can happen beyond your control. So, I think the way to deal with globalized world is to have concrete short- term plan.

Which is your favourite Fela's song and why?

I like two: Look and Laugh and Original Suffer Head. You know, it's just the dynamics of the music. I think in Look and Laugh, Fela actually put the
definition of arrangement and melody together.

What is it like heading Fela's 'Egypt 80'
band?

For me, it's very easy. The band is a very experienced band. It's not as if they are novice, and they helped me as well. The veterans in the band
make it a tradition to train the young ones and let them to be acquainted to the music. We are large in number, which makes it quite expensive to
manage. But in terms of organisation and discipline, we are good.

Do you smoke?

Yes, I do. But I don't smoke cigarette… I don't believe any human being has the right to tell nature what to do. Nature believes in the usefulness of marijuana. And I think mankind is pompous. You don't say earthquake or Tsunami is
illegal. So, why should marijuana, an equally natural thing, be illegal, even when earthquake and Tsunami are killing people.

When are you hoping on getting married?

I don't believe in the title of 'Mister'. The word itself is 'Miss Your Star'. It doesn't relate well with me.
People forget to understand that the term 'mister' is an English term for an English gentleman, and I do not see myself as an English gentleman. When
it happens, it happens.

You spent sometime in the Western world, what do you think about the African culture and tradition?

African culture and tradition are quickly getting extinct. Our society does not encourage us to embrace our culture. All cultures are centered on religion. So, the propaganda that African religion is
only used for evil purposes while the Western religion is used for good purposes has totally
destroyed our society.

EXPECT UNINTERRUPTED POWER SUPPLY NEXT YEAR-VICE PRESIDENT

Vice President Namadi Sambo yesterday hinted that most power plants belonging to the National Integrated Power Project (NIPP) were
completed and would be commissioned in 2013 to produce enough electricity in the country.

Accordingly, he directed that all problems that may hinder the delivery of power, especially gas supply
should be addressed forthwith. Sambo stated this while speaking in a special meeting on gas supply to power plants at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

On the issue of the power plant in Sapele, which was the subject of the meeting, it was noted that the early gas system was delivering gas to the
power plant but some issues needed to be solved. The issues were intermittent high influx of condensate; unsatisfactory operation of the heater
in service, which is currently not in service; the cooling effect and capacity limitation to 90mmscf/d to orifice plate and other factors.

The vice president directed the experts handling the Sapele project, who have designed a mechanism to arrest these issues to be in a meeting next week to discuss the solutions to the
problems.

SEE HUSBAND AND WIFE WHO WORK AS KIDNAPPERS(PHOTO)

When the management of Blueprint Business Technology, an ICT solution company, secured the service of Victor Sunday as an automobile engineer
some years back, it didn't occur to them that he was up to something more sinister than they could ever imagine.

The 34-year-old man, in connivance
with his wife, Eno, and a friend, Idom Essong, staged and kidnapped one of the company's directors simply identified as Adebayo, squeezing a
ransom of N36 million from his family.

The money which was shared between Sunday and his wife and others that took part in the operation, afforded him two automobiles, a jeep and a bus,
while part of it was spent on a building project.

While this was going on, Sunday didn't quit working for the ICT company, he held on to his position, going about his duties as if nothing happened. But some of his colleagues at the office who noticed a sudden change,an expensive life style got suspicious, and alerted the management who brought in the police from the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, and they arrested him
and his wife.

Crime Guard gathered that during interrogation, Sunday confessed to taking part in the kidnap of his boss. He told his interrogators that he was the
gang's contact man in the company and that he supplied them with all the information they needed in carrying out the operation. A police source at
FSARS who took part in the investigation intimated Crime Guard that Sunday also disclosed the names
of all other suspects who took part in the kidnapping including his friend, Essong.

*The suspects
"After their arrest, we charged the case to court and Sunday and his wife were remanded in prison custody. The case was referred to the Department of Public Prosecution, DPP, for advice. But while we were waiting for the DPP's advice, we got information that Sunday and his wife were grante bail by a State High Court without our knowledge.

The court didn't serve us any notice to appear before it during the bail hearing in order to conform to the due process of law. We couldn't do any thing
because the bail was from a competent court that has jurisdiction over such case," the source
lamented.

However, Crime Guard learnt that few days after they regained their freedom, Sunday and his wife parked out of their Oremeji, Oshodi residence and
moved to Matogun road, Lambe, Ogun State, where they ventured into full time kidnapping using their
new apartment as a hideout.

Meanwhile, a prison inmate with Sunday at the Ikoyi Prison where he was remanded assisted him in forming a new gang. The inmate identified as
Emma gave him the phone number of one Joseph who provided him with a gun and he also recruited two persons identified as Chief and Daniel.

The new gang went on a search for victims, and they stormed Ago-Okota area in Lagos State where they kidnapped a man they saw with a flashy car in front of a gate. They took the man to their hideout, chained him and contacted his relatives demanding a ransom of N50million, but they ran
out of luck as the middle-aged man managed to remove the chains from his legs and escaped from the hideout.

Sensing trouble, Sunday, his wife and
other members of the gang took to their heels because they expected that policemen will storm their residence.

A police source at the state Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, Ikeja, who took part in the manhunt for the suspects also told Crime Guard that;

"Shortly after their victim was kidnapped, the family contacted the police who kept tab on the kidnappers. Luckily, he was able to untie the leg
chain and escaped. We then kept tab on the house but we did not move in. Hoping that the police or the family was not ready to pursue the case, the
suspect returned to their hideout and we arrested them."

When Crime Guard interviewed the suspects, Sunday and his wife, they said they secured their bail after paying N500,000 to a lawyer who contacted them at the prison. They also said they
went back to kidnapping because they could not find a good job to secure a living and all efforts to progress in life failed.

In his words; " I am a mechanic and for years, I have struggled to make progress. Last year, my friend, Idom Essong visited my office and suggested that I should help him select anyone
that can be kidnapped in my office. He told me that it was one easiest thing to do, and I agreed and pointed at one of the senior managers who I knew
can afford to pay a huge ransom. I gave them all the details they needed to execute the plan.

"They collected N36million from the family and gave me N1million as my share of the deal. I quickly bought a bus and a jeep. I continued working in that office until the day police came and
arrested me.I don't know how they got the information. I was arrested by Federal SARS and later, charged to court with my wife as my accomplice. I was remanded in Ikoyi for 8 months
before I was released."

Narrating how he was released, Sunday said he was introduced to a lawyer whom he identified as Ajanaku. "I paid him N500,000 and he filed a. motion for bail and I was granted bail. He asked me
to go home as he would call me if there is any need to come to court. Till date, he has not called me.

Shortly after my release, I decided to relocate to a new place since the whole world knew that I was arrested for kidnapping. I relocated to 42, Matoku
Lambee in Ogun state . It became difficult for me to make a living so, I decided to start a family business since we have a house. I called a friend
that I met in the prison, Emma who had contact on where to get arms. He linked me up to one Joseph who promised to get a gun on the condition that he
would be involved in the deal. I later contacted my friends called Chief and Daniel.

"Three weeks ago, we arranged to lurk around Okota . Luckily, at about 10pm, we saw a man in a flashy car driving home. We immediately followed
him and as soon as he drove in, we went after him and over powered him. Still with his car, we drove to my apartment at Ogun State. To ensure that he does not recognize where he was, we blindfolded
him.

At home, we chained him in one of the rooms and contacted his family. We demanded for N50million. We went to bed and was shocked to find the room
empty in the morning. We immediately ran away because it was obvious that police would soon storm the area. Two weeks later when I discovered that no one had come to raid the house, I came
back with my wife to pick my things and the police arrested us.

The wife Eno,25, speaks
Eno said life had been hard ever since they got married. One day her husband came back and told her of his plan and she vehemently kicked against it. "He convinced me that it would be safe, so as a loving wife, I gave him my blessing. Luckily, at the end of everything, he was paid N1m and he gave
some to me to start a shop.
He continued his job till one day police arrested us.

They said I was an accomplice. Luckily, 8 months later, we were granted bail. He still went back to the same business and convinced me that it was
now a family business. As a loving wife I could not stop my husband. On the day of the kidnap, I warned him severally. When I discovered that they were asleep, I opened the door and went back. I did that because I wanted to help the man escape from that place. I thank God that he did,"she stated

NEW BORN BABY FOUND IN SOAK-AWAY

Eye witnesses told LEADERSHIP WEEKEND that some occupants of the hostel heard the cry of the
baby on that fateful day but could not decipher where the sound was coming from.

Their curiosity, according to the witness, spurred some of them to organise a search party. "Fortunately, as we further gathered, the cry of the baby was traced to the soak-away inside the
hostel," a student said.

The search party, comprising mainly male students, allegedly found the baby with a rope tied to a computer. But unfortunately, the baby died
before it was brought out of the soak-away.

According to a witness, the baby was suspected to be a day-old as its placenta was found dangling
from his neck.

The rescue team, it was learnt, subsequently searched all the rooms occupied by female students but could not trace the baby's mother.

The matter was reported to the police in Owerri, who have intensified investigation.

TRUE LIFE STORY- I WAS A VIRGIN TILL MY FATHER RAPED ME.

18-year-old Emily stood up in court yesterday and disclosed the heart wrenching tale of how her father
loaded her with wine at his Derbyshire home before putting her to bed and then climbing in with her.

She recounted how Robert Hawksworth, 54, her father raped her in a sickening attack when she visited him for the weekend.

It was not the first time such sexual attack had occurred, the teenager had been sexually abused by Hawksworth since the age of 14, but remained silent
until the rape which took away her virginity last year, it was then she reported the crime to the police.

Now 18, Emily shunned anonymity to speak up so she can help free other abused teenagers like her.

The girl said
'When I woke up in the morning I felt sick and I felt like something had happened,' said Emily. 'I felt violated.'
'I stayed in bed all day and on the Sunday he kept asking me to go to town with him and make me take the Pill. I refused to take it because I did not want to believe what had happened.

'I was blunt with him and I didn't want the conversation to be brought up.
'When I went home on the Sunday night, I wasn't going to say anything to my mum but as soon as I walked in I burst into tears.

'She knew something had happened so I told her. She was distraught and rang the police.' Emily's parents divorced when she was seven. She said at first she had not reported what had happened because she felt scared.
'I was young at the time,' she said. 'I did not know
how to handle it.'
On Wednesday Hawksworth, who denied rape and sexual assault, was sentenced to nine years in prison
after a trial at Derby Crown Court.
Judge John Burgess told Hawksworth:

'She was visiting you as she regularly did for the weekend. 'During the course of that Friday evening you and
she were drinking both wine and cider, alcohol you provided.
'She became very drunk and was very sick. You tended to her and she was put to bed.

'During the night you came into her room, removed her underwear and had full sex. 'She was a virgin until that happened. This was a gross breach of trust and the violation of a vulnerable
girl.' Today Emily's mother Karen Atalay, 53, described her daughter's ordeal as 'terrible and heart-breaking'. 'I
felt quite guilty. I felt it was my fault. My marriage to him was extremely abusive but I was too frightened
to tell anybody anything. I'm relieved that at last we have some justice,' she said.

It was another festival of tears and lamentation in the Garden City of Port Harcourt on Friday as remains of Lloyd Toku Mike, one of the four University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) students, who was lynched in Aluu clan was committed to mother earth.

The remains of the deceased was interred in Port Harcourt City cemetery, opposite Free-Town Street, off Aggrey Road Rivers State. Until his painful demise on October 5, 2012, the late
Lloyd was a 200 level Engineering student of UNIPORT and first son of his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Toku Mike. His dad is an Assistant Director of Programmes,
Rivers State Broadcasting Service.
Bereaved friends and family members mourned uncontrollably when the casket bearing Lloyd's remains arrived their residence at No. 29 Captain
Amangala Street, Town,Port Harcourt.
On sighting the vehicle bearing the corpse, a Ford Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) with a Lagos registration
number, BDG 485 AS, the tear-soaked mother muttered, "My baby is here," touching the ambulance bearing the body of her beloved son.

In his sermon, pastor Promise Jeremiah of Salvation Ministries reminded sympathizers not to forget that one day people would also gather to mourn them like Lloyd. He called on them to repent in other to be found in the lamb's book of life.

The cleric who read from Luke 16:22-30, said in life, people must belong to, either, Lazarus' camp or beggar's camp, heaven or devil's camp.

The emotion-laden father, Mr. Toku Mike, while lamenting that his son promised to come home the very day he was brutally killed said Lloyd occupies a special place in his heart.

Tearfully he said: "Lloyd, you called and wished me happy birthday on Thursday, October 4, 2012. You promised you would come home on Friday, October
5, 2012 after lectures but you never did. Little did I know that your birthday wish was your goodbye to me, your mother, and your younger brother.
Continuing, Toku mourned: "Lloyd, why, why and why did you abandon us the way and manner you did? Lloyd, we loved you so very much. Word alone
can't explain how much love we had and still have for you even in death."

He further lamented that money and tears are not enough to bring him back to life if not they would not have stopped crying, and would have also gone extra-mile to borrow money in other to bring him back to life and to complete his education.

However, mourners who were present during the interment blamed president Goodluck Jonathan and Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi for not sending representatives to the burial ceremony.

While calling on relevant security agencies to bring the killers to book, they also warned them to guard
against future reoccurrence. Meanwhile, the students' union leaders of UNIPORT

I AM TIRED OF SELLING MY BIG PLAYERS-ARSENE WENGER

I am sorry for posting this story because it is not related to Naija but we have some Arsenal fans in Nigeria(people like me).

Arsene Wenger has admitted that he is tired of losing his big stars every summer, but has insisted that if Theo Walcott is sold, he will get a replacement for the England international. The forward has failed to
agree a new deal and might be sold in the January window, if he does not agree fresh terms with the club.

Wenger has seen names like Cesc Fabregas, Robin van Persie, Alex Song and Samir Nasri leave in the past two years already, and says those departures have left him frustated.

"You think I'm not fed up? I want them to stay," he said. "He [Walcott] was fantastic last year in this game. He will certainly be again. "Its always important to keep your best players. If that should happen we'll replace him with someone – another big name. Or make another big name.

"I have discussions every day with Theo Walcott, but not every day about his contract – his agents do that. "We are trying to get further but, at the moment, nothing else has happened."
Reports say Arsenal are already targeting Crystal Palace's Wilfried Zaha and Adrian from Athletic Madrid, if the 23-year-old leaves.

JONATHAN IS A WEAK LEADER-OBASANJO

A northern group, under the aegis of Coalition of Northern Patriots has lampooned former president Olusegun Obasanjo over his blaming the President
Goodluck Jonathan's administration over security challenges currently facing the country, particularly the incessant attacks from the Boko Haram
fundamentalist.

The Former president who was in Warri during the week to mark the 40th birthday of President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Pastor Ayo
Oritsajefor had on the altar faulted the Federal Government for the poor handling of the Boko Haram Insurgence in Borno State and the entire North-East
zone, stressing that President Jonathan is not capable of handling the dreaded foot soldiers.

Speaking with newsmen in Abuja, Friday, chairman of the group, Alhaji Ali Abacha and the secretary, Engineer Ahmed Mohammed berated the retired
military general over the destruction of lives and property during his administration at Odi, in Bayelsa
and Zaki Biam, in Benue state.

The group said: "It is sad that with Chief Olusegun Obasanjo's exposure and experience in government, he could describe the callous destruction of the
innocent citizens and their property as a mark of strong leadership. Whatever Obasanjo says on an issue, we expect him to think it over, before making
public statements.

Whatever comes out of Obasanjo's mouth, must be guided statements. Advising President Jonathan to kill in the North to achieve peace would aggravate the problem. Religion is a sensitive issue. If the president attacks predominantly Muslim communities, it could be misconstrued as attacks on
Muslims," they said.

The Coalition of Northern Patriots further affirmed that President Jonathan is competent enough to lead
the country.

"A critical assessment of the situation will show that one cannot place the problem the nation faced in Odi
and Zaki Biam, on the same platform with the challenge that is Boko Haram. It will be thoughtless and irresponsible for anyone to suggest to the President to apply the tactics of destruction to the
entire North and the North East. To any patriotic Nigerian, it should be clear that the administration is making steady progress in the fight."

TERRORISTS KILL PREGNANT WOMAN,7 PEOPLE IN KADUNA

On Wednesday night, invaded Madauchi village in Southern Kaduna,
killing five peasants, including a pregnant woman. Newsmen were told that the terrorists, suspected to
be on a revenge mission, launched the attack on the village, in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of
the State.

Mr Musa Gaiya, the district head of the area, said the killers launched an attack on the village at about 11.00 p.m and killed the pregnant woman and five
others.

He said the killers shot and killed the peasants, burnt the bodies and fled into the bush. Reacting, the state governor, Patrick Yakowa, on Thursday, described the incident as unwarranted and
a deliberate attempt to cause chaos, adding that the state government would not be deterred in its quest
at ensuring a secured and united Kaduna State.

Yakowa said it was saddening, because the incident came in when concerted effort by the government, through the peace and reconciliation committee, was being made to entrench lasting and sustainable peace in the state.
In another development, people around Bolori, Jejeri, Ummarari and Kumshe wards of Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, were in shock on Thursday
afternoon, following a blast which was accompanied by sporadic gunshots.

A resident of Kumshe ward told the Nigerian Tribune that the explosion was around Bolori ward, adding that traders had to close their shops and run for
safety when soldiers closed all roads leading to the area.

According to him, "we ran because usually, when something like this happens, before you know anything, there will be exchange of gunfire between Joint Task Force (JTF) and sect members; as such, it always results in the innocent being caught in a
crossfire. At least, we have had so many experiences, therefore, we do not wait to be told to run."

Also speaking, a resident of Bolori, who identified himself as Munkaila Adam, told the Nigerian Tribune that for the past three days, soldiers had laid siege to the area and had arrested some persons suspected to be sect members in Bolori market.

Meanwhile, in Gwange ward of Maiduguri, gunmen suspected to be members of the Boko Haram sect
shot and killed three Igbo traders.
The area has since been deserted for fear of arrest and possible engagement in gun duel.

Attempt to confirm the incident and get official statement from either the JTF through Lieutenant- Colonel Sagir Musa or the Police Commisioner, Yuguda Abdullahi, failed at the time of filing this
report.

The JTF has, however, said its operatives had launched an attack and killed the commander, commanding North-West and North-East of
Maiduguri in an ongoing battle with the sect in some deadly black spots within Maiduguri and Jere local government areas of the state.

In a statement by the spokesman of the Joint Task Force, Lieutenant-Lieutenant-Colonel Musa, on Thursday evening, which was made available to the
Nigerian Tribune, the JTF said it took the efforts of the combined troops of the joint task force operation
restore order in Borno, 333 Air Defence Regiment, the Department of State Security Services (SSS), supported by Armoured Personnel Carriers and
helicopters, to get at the top commander and his foot
soldiers.

Musa also said the operation, which was conducted in the terrorists' enclaves at Nganaram, Bulabulin and Bayan Quarters areas of Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, was a sustained follow-up operation on Thursday afternoon.

According to the JTF, "during the offensive and in a counter-attack, a major commander of the Boko
Haram terrorists, Ibn Saleh Ibrahim, alongside some of his foot soldiers were killed by the JTF troops."

Lieutenant-Colonel Musa also confirmed that, the late Ibrahim was confirmed to be responsible for the assassination of late Nigeria's civil war hero, General
Mamman Shuwa, who was killed at his resident in Gwange early this month.

NIGERIA NOW 2ND MOST CORRUPT NATION IN THE WORLD

Another heavy knock has come on Nigerian government as the newest rating on corruption indicates that the acclaimed giant of the Africa is the second most corrupt nation in the world.

The rating according to a Gallup poll shows that the rate of corruption in the country is getting out of hand.

Gallup, in its first-ever report on "Global States of Mind: New Metrics for World Leaders," said 94 percent of Nigerians believe there is prevalent corruption in government.

The poll reveals that in the world, only Kenyans believe their government is more corrupt. About 96 percent of Kenyans said there is widespread
corruption in their government while only five percent of Singaporeans said their government is corrupt.

Gallup said last year's revolutions in Tunisia and Egypt where GDP was rising, shows that world leaders need more than just GDP and other traditional economic metrics to run their countries.

"Economic data are becoming less and less valuable because they tend to be outdated by the time they are made available. More significantly, GDP is less valuable because leaders now need to
know much more than what people are spending— they need to know what they are thinking; GDP isn't enough if you are watching for instability,"
said Jim Clifton, Gallup Chairman and CEO.

"All institutes worldwide knew GDP was rising in Tunisia and Egypt. They knew what 11 million Tunisians and 80 million Egyptians were buying and selling—but they didn't know what they were
thinking," Clifton added.
Clifton affirmed that GDP isn't enough if leaders are trying to figure out levels of hunger, hopelessness, or suffering, stressing that the United Nations did not see those revolutions coming, neither did the World Economic Forum
(WEF), nor the World Bank.

"The U.S. spends tens of billions on intelligence— and it missed those revolutions too," Clifton said.
Gallup's World Poll spans more than 150 countries, territories, and areas, annually capturing what more than 98% of the world's adult population is thinking on topics from basic needs to job creation.

Gallup's World Poll data set now includes more than 1 million interviews conducted since the research initiative started in 2005. Respondents were asked questions on law and order, food and shelter, institutions and infrastructure, good jobs, wellbeing, brain drain and quality GDP growth." He

GRANDFATHER GRADUATES WITH FIRST CLASS FROM UNIVERSITY OF IBADAN

A grandfather, Mr Aderemi Alli, was among the 21 first class graduates produced by the University of Ibadan (UI) at its convocation on Thursday in
Ibadan.

The university graduated a total of 1,582 students for the 2011/2012 academic session with 243 graduating in Second Class (Upper Division) and
920, Second Class (Lower Division). A total of 135 of the students graduated with Third Class and 203 Pass.

Alli, 57, was among the three first class graduates produced by the institution's Faculty of Law.

He had had a first degree in economics education 31 years ago. Alli, whose last child is studying electrical engineering in UI, told journalists at the ceremony that he was motivated to study law
because many of his schoolmates had become Senior Advocates of Nigeria.

"I feel I can still participate in the society in spite of my age. I am using this medium to advise others that they can do it, If I can do it," he said.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Isaac Adewole, said that of the 21 first class graduates, one was produced by the Faculty of Arts and 17 came the university's affiliated institutions.

He expressed regret that the university did not produce many first degree graduands due to the disruption of the 2011/2012 academic calendar which prevented some final year students from completing their courses.
Adewole urged the graduating students to be relevant to their society. "There is no doubt that the University of Ibadan has laid the foundation that will enable you to face the challenges of the 21st century and the demands of the present-day labour market.

"It is, therefore, your responsibility to prove that the education you have acquired is world-class," Adewole said. The vice chancellor gave the assurance that the university would continue to lay the foundation for life-long learning.

PATIENCE JONATHAN IS STILL SICK

Despite her return to Nigeria in pomp and circumstance about one month ago, First Lady Patience Jonathan is still sick, Sahara Reporters sources say.
Sahara reporters learned that shortly after the public relations exercise that attended her return, she retired into a medically-induced bed rest that
has her kept her away from the public, unable to attend to official duties.
On October 26th Mrs. Jonathan appeared with her husband and the Ondo State governor, Olusegun
Mimiko and his wife to cut her 55th birthday cake in the presidential villa, since then she has disappeared from the public.

A presidency source stated that Mrs. Jonathan's doctors in Germany have also continued to visit and watch her recovery.
When Mrs. Jonathan returned from a prolonged medical trip to Germany in October she spoke effusively about being given a second chance, but
denied having been in a hospital.
Our sources say the publicity given her return was designed to end all forms of speculation about her true condition because the presidency had badly
miscalculated by not revealing her actual medical status to the country. Contrary to the plans of the presidency, Sahara Reporters exposed specific
details her husband wanted to keep hidden.

Since her return, Mrs. Jonathan has not been able to accompany her husband on any official trips in or outside of Nigeria, including visits to her home
state of Rivers, or that of Mr. Jonathan, Bayelsa.

In addition to all this, she has not attended to her duties in Bayelsa as Permanent Secretary, a position she seized with grand fanfare months
before she left the country on an extended trip she said was not for hospital treatment purposes.

It is unclear how long Mrs. Jonathan's bed-rest will continue as she remains inaccessible to the public, or how her absence is impacting her official duties
in both Abuja and Bayelsa.

ALL GENERAL OVERSEERS,IMANS,PASTORS SHOULD GO TO PRISON- PASTOR TUNDE BAKARE

Pastor Tunde Bakare of the latter rain assembly said that All General overseers and religious leaders must go
to prison, so they can feel the Nigerian situation.

Lock Pastor Adeboye, Pastor Kumuyi, myself and others up in a Nigerian prison, may be if we come out we will change and put the interest of our people first.

Preaching greed is sin, we have the confidence of millions of people and continue to fail them, that
must change' - Pastor Tunde Bakare

I personally think he was referring to religious leaders that are extremely rich while members are getting poorer by the day.

CPC READY TO MERGE WITH ACN,ANPP

According to premium times,a highly placed official of
the party as saying that CPC's decision to merge with other parties was approved at the party's BOT
meeting last Thursday in Kaduna.
He said at the end of the meeting, the hardliners within the CPC, who had opposed the merger, soft-
pedalled and approved the proposal.
The national leaders of the party such as Maj.-Gen.Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), former FCT Minister, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, and CPC Chairman, Tony Momoh, were at the meeting.

The source explained that with the ratification, the
party would proceed to consumate the merger
talks it began with the ACN after the 2011 general
elections.

The CPC National Publicity Secretary, Rotimi Fashakin, confirmed that the national executive committee of the party had received the BOT's nod to proceed on the merger process.

In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria, Fashakin said the BOT gave the approval because none of the existing opposition party alone could
defeat the ruling party.

"It is now clear that opposition parties must merge to be able to improve the educational system, health sector, security and infrastructure, among
others for Nigerians,'' he said.

BOKO HARAM AND FEDERAL GOVT ARE NEGOTIATING

"I can confirm to you that talks are ongoing at the
background. But the talks are not the kinds being
envisaged by Nigerians," the Special Adviser to the
President on Media and Publicity, Reuben Abati,
told our correspondent in Abuja.

He also said that "I know that some Nigerians are
expecting that a venue should be chosen and a
banner
will be placed there indicating that the Federal
Government is holding dialogue with the group
there.

"That is not the kind of talks we are talking about
here. The ongoing talk is a back channel one in
which those who know members of the group are
talking with them on behalf of the government."
Boko Haram which has been prosecuting a
bombing campaign against the Nigerian state
recently gave conditions for ceasefire and talks
with the government.

Don't forget that the sect, among others asked for compensation for
its killed members; that its demolished mosque be
rebuilt; that its members in custody be released;
and that the dialogue venue should be in Saudi
Arabia.
